Kareen is a self taught glass artist who started playing with fire and melting glass in 1999 in Seattle. Since then she has moved around the world, toting her torch and glass with her. Sourcing propane and oxygen in LA, Paris, Monaco, Singapore and now again in Monaco, she continues her craft no matter where she lives.
She was always a crafty Miss, and is now a crafty Mme and mom. She paints, sews (mostly for her little miss and master) and is constantly creating. Her travels and life experiences inspire her work.
Because she is inclined to water (born in Hawaii, spent summers in Tahiti, lives on the Cote d'Azur) and ocean life, you will see that blues, turquoises and greens tend to be her favorite colors. However, she loves creating custom orders, collaborating with others on new and exciting creations.....so contact her for your own individual glass inspiration.
**Established in 2003, KbyKareen designs are individually created with precise manual work. The handcrafted glass beads are made from Effetre, CiM, Laushca, and Double Helix glass and the settings are hand-formed sterling silver or gold-fill. This self-taught lampwork artist melts glass at 900° C using an oxygen/propane mix torch.
